2011 Hyundai Sonata tops the $25,000 Family Sedan Shootout
DATE
July 14, 2010

IRWINDALE, California – The 2011 Hyundai Sonata is the Best Family Sedan in the $25,000 price range category in terms of safety and dependability, according to the comparison test conducted by US-based car survey titled The $25,000 Family Sedan Shootout, sponsored by leading daily newspaper USA Today, in partnership with automotive information portal Cars.com and PBS’ MotorWeek TV auto magazine.

Of all the eight brands of family sedans tested, the redesigned Hyundai Sonata received the highest score within the category after being rated by a panel of six distinguished motoring journalists and media experts from USA Today, Cars.com, and MotorWeek, plus the Tiernan family, a real family from Los Angeles selected by Cars.com, who test drove all cars included in the Shootout. Judging was based on a 10-category Shootout evaluation which zeroed-in on two major areas that promote a family-friendly ride: packaging, which includes styling, interior trim, space, and features, while the other half, the car’s performance, includes acceleration, braking, shifting, and handling. The cars that were included in the Shootout comparo had sticker prices of $25,000 or less, and had four-cylinder engines and automatic transmissions.

Each car was also put to the test on real-world conditions. For this purpose, all eight cars were subjected to a test drive down routes covering California freeways and suburban streets in Pasadena and Irwindale, checking their full impression and grip on the road. Engine configurations were all examined as well, especially their safety road handling (i.e. shock absorption mechanisms, traction, driving stability, etc.) capabilities when revved up to higher accelerations. Even child seats were checked for those families who bring with them babies or toddlers on the road.

Finally, after the very comprehensive evaluation, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata received the highest score which totaled 794 points, proving itself as a most family-oriented mid-size sedan, surpassing the rest of the automotive brand contenders with its fresh-looking design and sufficiently-appealing features.

To date, relatively low-priced automobiles do not necessarily mean lesser family features and overall safety and comfort. Testament to this is the all new 2011 Hyundai Sonata, guaranteeing a most satisfying driving pleasure and tested safety and security features more than every pound its worth. All things considered, Hyundai is running true to its zeal of providing no less than premium quality drives while keeping the engineering faith of cutting-edge technology and running true to its Next Generation advocacy to providing safe, sustainable, and cost-effective automobiles to the general driving community.
